Sinatra

Sinatra, born in 1999, is an Appendix horse, a product of humans breeding a Quarter Horse with a Thoroughbred. Due to medical complications of cross-breeding, he has a disability with his feet making it painful for him to carry much weight. Sini, as we lovingly call him, has been rehomed at least seven times that we know of, at one point knowing an auction house better than any other home. In 2014, Sinatra would be abandoned for the last time and rescued permanently by Spirit’s Promise. At first, he was distrusting of everyone except his best friend, Dude. They would spend their days together sharing hay, roaming the greens, and even sharing a stall together for a short amount of time. Unfortunately, Dude crossed over the rainbow bridge in 2016 and it took Sinatra until 2019 to truly learn how to trust another animal and human. He finally realized he wasn’t leaving and found his own place in the herd. Now, you’ll find him stride by stride with Pirate, who is not only his herd mate but also his stall neighbor. Sini is best known around Spirit’s Promise as an excellent therapy horse with an uncanny ability to match energy with grieving. He recognizes sadness in people because he himself experienced sadness in his life. Now at his forever home here at Spirit’s Promise, Sini has learned to heal through the power of the herd and human connection.

In addition to his meals consisting of Hay and Grains, Sinatra also receives daily doses of a dewormer, Mirra Coat, a supplement to keep his skin strong and protected, Vermont Pro, a prebiotic/probiotic, and Triple Crown Oil, a digestive aid.
